Checking for the quality of Gold and diamond jewellery is a crucial part of Diamond jewelley production. Although products are made keeping its best quality in consideration but a final quality inspection is important to assure everything is alright and the jewellery is ok to be packed. Here are some steps in which QC or quality check is done professionally:

Metal and Diamond verification:

QC starts with inspection of the materials. Diamonds are checked for cut, clarity, color, carat weight, and shape, IGI inscription on diamond girdle are checked. Specification are checked and inspected and whether they meet the requirements or not. Gold hallmarking is checked for the purity (14kt, 18kt etc). Diamond certifications are checked for authenticity. All the required information should match with the certifications like IGI and SGL.

Matching the design with CAD

CAD files for the design that is being checked are opened and matched with the dimensions, detailing etc. The QC team checks if the design matches the CAD and does not have any deformities. Dimensions, proportions, and stone placements are cross-checked. Ring sizes are checked as often times while creating a ring it can change.

Polishing and Finishing Checks

Quality of the metal surface is checked if it smooth or not, with no scratches or markings on the surface of the metal. Intricate areas are checked thoroughly as smaller details can be deformed while finishing. Plating is checked for any rough edges. If the Rhodium is not done properly, the product won’t pass QC standards.

Stone setting is one of the most important part of the QC process as Diamonds are valuable. Stones are set manually So it is crucial to check if the setting is done with precision. QC checks if the stone are set securely and well. Loose diamonds and not aligned diamonds are sent back for proper setting. Prongs in smaller settings are checked if they evenly hold smaller diamonds.

Locks and hinges

For pieces like earrings, bangles, and necklaces all clasps, hinges, and joints are tested for smooth operation and durability. Movable parts are checked for proper functionality. Locks are tested, broken or loose locking mechanisms are rejected in this process.

Final Quality Inspection

The piece is checked against the original order specification (design, size, stone count). Diamonds are counted, and their placement is verified. The overall visual appearance, symmetry, and balance are inspected. Any small flaws like glue marks or scratches are inspected

Certificate Verification

IGI and SGL certification can be verified online. It is crucial to check the engravings of certification numbers on the jewellery as it tells us about the authenticity of a product.
